Veggies and fruit packed into one incredible green healthy honeydew smoothie!

Have you ever heard of a honeydew smoothie? You have probably seen a lot of green smoothie recipes out there and you may have tried a few of them too. Green smoothies are everywhere! And we know why- they are healthy, tasty and look pretty cool in a big glass.
However, a lot of green smoothies are the same. They are usually made with kale, spinach, avocado, or some kind of mystery green protein powder.
We wanted to make a new, more refreshing green smoothie and get all you green smoothie lovers excited again! We decided the honeydew melon was green enough or a perfect, nutritious green smoothie!

Ingredients for Honeydew Melon Smoothie
To make our honeydew smoothie recipe, we wanted to use ingredients that were refreshing, tasty and also green.
We thought about our favorite green fruits and veggies and then considered which ingredients would taste better. A green smoothie has to be delicious!
Our honeydew smoothie is also completely dairy free. Try using any of your favorite dairy free milks to make smoothie recipes. Almost any milk will work in a smoothie and still taste incredible. Our smoothie is naturally gluten-free too. It's perfect for everyone!
We chose to rely on the sweetness of the melon to make the smoothie perfect. If you like your honeydew smoothie to be a little sweeter, try adding a splash of maple syrup or honey. About a tablespoon of maple syrup will make the drink taste rich and sweeter. This is especially great if you cut into the melon to find it's not quite as ripe as you'd like.
Here is what we use to make our perfect green smoothie:
- Honeydew melon
- Coconut water
- Canned coconut milk
- Fresh mint
- Lime juice
- Salt
- Cucumber

All About Smoothie Ingredients
Honeydew- We wanted to base our whole smoothie recipe around the sweet, flavorful honeydew melon. It is a summer melon that has a pretty pale green flesh. It is called “honeydew” because it has a mild flavor of honey. So tasty!
Using frozen honeydew melon gives the smoothie a thicker texture without losing any flavor. Perfect for hot summer days!
Coconut Water- Rather than mix the smoothie with whole milk or almond milk, we chose to go a more tropical route, using coconut water as the base of the smoothie. Coconut water really makes this drink taste even more like summer and will actually help hydrate you as you drink.
Canned Coconut Milk- We also used a little canned coconut milk to make the smoothie creamy and sweet. It is the perfect blend of refreshing sweetness and it's also dairy-free! Coconut tastes amazing with honeydew so all these coconutty ingredients are perfect for our smoothie.
Lime Juice and Mint- Lime juice enhances the tropical flavor of the drink. It adds a bright zing to the smoothie too. While lime juice itself isn’t green, limes are! We like to count limes as part of the green power blend. Add in some mint and you have an even more refreshing, bold, vibrant green drink!
Salt- You will be surprised how much flavor a tiny bit of salt can add to a drink. Salt is a flavor enhancer. Sodium ions in salt zero in on bitter flavor components and suppress them, making things taste sweeter. Adding that pinch of salt will make the green honeydew melon smoothie instantly better.
Cucumber- Cucumber is the last ingredient in our honeydew smoothie recipe. Cucumber is packed with water and a subtle grassy flavor. This taste is amazing with the coconut, lime and melon in the drink. All the water in cucumbers will also keep you hydrated and invigorated.
Leave the peel of the cucumber on to add more nutrients to your smoothie (and some more green color!). Anything that increases the health benefits of our smoothie is a good idea!

How to Make a Honeydew Melon Smoothie
Making a perfect honeydew smoothie is impossibly easy. Just toss all the ingredients into a blender and puree! Serve immediately once the smoothie is perfectly blended because it definitely tastes best when super cold.
That is all you need to do to make a delicious, nonalcoholic, amazing summer drink. It only takes a few minutes total time to whip up this drink!
Use a sharp knife to cut and peel the honeydew. The whole melon rind can be quite tough and a good knife will make all the difference.
Be sure to blend the ingredients in your blender until they are perfectly smooth. Even in a high powdered blender the honeydew smoothie can take a minute or two to get super smooth. You really want everything to be pureed well to get the most delicious tasting smoothie possible. The smoother, the better!
