How to Make Raspberry Syrup

Homemade raspberry syrup has a strong, fruity flavor that is perfectly sweet. It is a beautiful consistency, making it ideal for mixing into drinks or pouring over pancakes and French toast. Making raspberry syrup is actually very easy. Anyone will be able to make this raspberry syrup recipe! Here is what you need to do:

  1. Simmer the water and raspberries together for about 30 minutes. This will get all of the raspberry flavor infused into the water. The raspberries will turn very pale while the water becomes a pretty pink color. Skim off any foam from the top of the simmering water and discard it. This will help keep the syrup clear rather than cloudy.

  2. Pour the mix through a mesh sieve. To keep the syrup clear, don’t press the justice out of the raspberries. It is tempting to do but it will make the syrup cloudy. Save the raspberries to add to a smoothie instead. They will have a little less flavor but are still full of fiber!

  3. Place the raspberry liquid back in the pot and add the sugar, lemon juice and vanilla. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes to thicken the syrup.

  4. Pour the syrup into an airtight container and let cool. We like to pour it into fancy bottles or mason jars. This way it looks as beautiful on the shelf as it tastes!

Measuring and boiling are the hardest parts of this raspberry syrup recipe and those are two things you can definitely do! This raspberry simple syrup is just as good (if not better) than Starbucks raspberry syrup, Torani raspberry syrup or any of the big brand syrups on the market. That fresh raspberry taste is unmatched!
