Basil and strawberry are a fantastic combination. The sweet taste of a fresh strawberry and the savory, sweetness of basil are incredible. Many people love combining strawberry and basil because the subtle grassiness of the basil cuts the overly sweet strawberry.

The ingredients we use to make a delicious strawberry basil mocktail are pretty simple. Take a quick look at what you’ll need to make this great drink.

    • Sugar- Use granulated sugar to make the strawberry mocktail nice and sweet
    • Honey- We love the sweetness that honey adds to the drink. It is rich and lucious. Honey and strawberries are pure perfection
    • Strawberries- Use fresh sliced strawberries for the best results. Fresh strawberries will be nice and juicy and have the most flavor.
    • Fresh Basil- Fresh basil can be found in the grocery store year round. You can easily grow basil in a pot on your patio, in a backyard garden or in a small container in a sunny window. It is one of the easiest herbs to grow and really amazing when fresh.
    • Lemon Juice- Fresh lemon juice adds a nice zing to the mocktail. The sour taste is delicious with the sweetness of the strawberries. A strawberry lemonade mocktail sounds like a real summer treat!
    • Lime Juice- Lime juice is very tangy and bright. It makes the strawberry mocktail unique and almost have a virgin margarita flair.
    • Lemon Slices- Lemon slices make a beautiful garnish for the strawberry basil mocktail. The bright yellow lemon is pretty in the red drink.
    • Fresh Basil- Fresh basil leaves add a pop of color to the mocktail.

How To Make a Strawberry Mocktail with Basil

How To Make a Strawberry Mocktail with Basil

The first step toward making a perfect strawberry mocktail with basil is to make a strawberry basil syrup. Water, honey and sugar are brought to a boil. Fresh sliced strawberries are added to the hot syrup and boiled until the berries are soft.

The strawberry syrup pot is removed from the stove top and the fresh chopped basil is added in. Once the syrup is cooled and at room temperature, strain it well. Be sure to press down on the berry, basil mash to really get all the juice out. You’d be amazed how much tasty liquid comes pouring out of the berries!

We like to use a big gallon jug for the next step of the recipe but a nice, large pitcher or even a punch bowl will work as well. Add the strained strawberry basil syrup into the pitcher or jug and add the remaining water, lemon juice, and lime juice. Put the top on the jug and shake or just stir the pitcher. We must say, the shaking part is extra fun and worth looking for a gallon sized jug with a lid!

How Long Does Fresh Basil Strawberry Lemonade Last?

How Long Does Fresh Basil Strawberry Lemonade Last?

Once you have made your beautiful strawberry basil mocktail mix, store it in the fridge for up to a week. After a week, the mocktail mix may start to turn brownish as the strawberries and basil age. But don’t worry, you will probably drink it all before then! Remember, you can have as many mocktails as you want with no alcoholic side effects.

Serve our strawberry basil mocktail over ice in a highball glass. Garnish it with a pretty lemon slice and sprig of fresh basil. You can also pour your strawberry mocktail into a martini glass for an even fancier look.

Everyone from adults to kids can enjoy this tasty strawberry basil mocktail. It will be a winner with everyone, we guarantee it. Enjoy!

    You Asked, We’re Answering

We receive lots of questions about our mocktail recipes. We try to answer as many as possible so please leave your questions in the comment section below! Take a look at these frequently asked questions, too. Maybe your answer is already here!

    Can Mocktails be alcoholic?

No. A mocktail is, by definition, a non alcoholic drink. They should contain no alcohol at all. We have plenty of incredible mocktail recipes that have zero alcohol and 100% flavor.

    What replaces alcohol in mocktails?

Fresh juices, fruits, seltzers and sodas can all be used to replace alcohol to make a mocktail. The ingredients used to replace alcohol will vary based on the drink. We try to look at the flavors of a cocktail and then mimic or enhance those flavors using non alcoholic ingredients.

For example, we may skip the rum in a pina colada but replace it with extra pineapple juice or more sweet coconut milk. A little non alcoholic vanilla extract is the perfect finishing touch!

    Are mocktails good for you?

There are many mocktails that are healthy. Mocktails are very hydrating and can be quite refreshing as well. Mocktails are safe for kids and all adults to drink. They often have fruit or beneficial herbs that can give you a healthy boost. They are definitely healthier than cocktails and can be healthier than many other packaged drinks on the market.
