Pink Monster Drink - Homemade Recipe

We think we have all seen that big black can with the green “M” sliced in the front. The Monster energy drink is pretty recognizable!

But have you seen the new pink Monster drink? Gone is the black and neon green can. Now it is all pink, silver and extra delicious.

The pink Monster energy drink is known as Ultra Rosa flavor. It has a very unique taste that is refreshing, floral and pretty complex. After one sip, we were dying to try to make our own version of the pink Monster drink.

It seemed like a pretty great challenge! And guess what? We think we nailed it.

    Pink Monster Ultra Rosa

What Flavor is Pink Monster Ultra Rosa?

It can be a little hard to describe the flavor of a pink Monster energy drink. It is pretty unique! All we know for sure is that once you taste it, you will be hooked. And once you taste our homemade version, you will be even more addicted.

Ultra rosa has a berry, lemonade flavor with a little bit of cranberry and a little bit of rose flavor. It is the floral taste that really makes it different from other lemonade style energy drinks we have tried.

Floral flavors make drinks rich, earthy and naturally a little bit sweet. We captured this citrus, flowery flavor in our homemade pink monster energy drink for sure!

Ingredients in Pink Monster Flavor Drink

Ingredients in Pink Monster Flavor Drink

So what exactly is in the pink Monster can? Quite a few ingredients we don’t really understand- that’s what.

Pink Monster energy drinks have a lot of artificial flavors and ingredients. While these may taste good, they aren’t necessarily healthy.

Here is exactly what is inside that can.

    • Carbonated Water
    • Citric Acid (flavor)
    • Erythritol and Sucralose (sweetener)
    • Taurine (caffeine)
    • Natural Flavors
    • L-Carnitine and L-Tartrate (artificial amino acids)
    • Several preservatives
    • B vitamins

This list is a little more simplified than the back of the pink Monster can. We tried to make it clear and concise so you get the real idea of what is in the drink.

But that list of technical names of each artificial B vitamin is quite intense. Niacinamide, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride….those are some long, chemically sounding names! We prefer the more natural route…

Our Pink Monster energy drink is a little bit simpler and has ingredients that are easier to find than the complicated stuff in the pink can.

Here is what we use to make our homemade Ultra Rosa:

    • Pink Lemonade- any kind will work! Go for sugar free if you are looking to keep this drink low cal and low sugar
    • Cranberry juice- Use 100% cranberry juice rather than cranberry juice cocktail. It has a stronger, tangier taste that we love.
    • Carbonated Water- Pink Monster energy drinks have a little bit of fizz so we use carbonated water to get those bubbles in the glass.
    • Lemon Juice- Fresh lemon juice adds a nice, bright tang that enhances the flavor of the drink.
    • Green Coffee Bean Extract- you can buy powdered green coffee bean extract online here. Just remember a little bit goes a long way! There is a lot of caffeine in that little scoop!
    • Monin Rose Syrup- Rose syrup gives our drink that tasty, floral taste that is unique to pink Monster. Any brand of rose coffee syrup will work but we especially like Monin rose which has the strongest taste.

You may need to order those last two ingredients but, once you have them on hand, you will be able to make tons and tons of Pink Monster drinks.

Make the investment- it is well worth it!

    You Asked, We’re Answering

Do you have questions about our recipe or about pink Monster in general? Hopefully we answer your questions here! Leave any other questions you may have in the comment section below and we will try to answer ASAP!

What is the pink monster flavor?

Officially, it is called Ultra Rosa. The taste is a little floral, a little sweet and a lot of citrus. It is carbonated which gives the drink a bubbly fizz. It is also caffeinated so you will get an energizing boost in each can of pink monster.

Does the pink monster have alcohol?

Pink Monster energy drink does not have alcohol. There are a few cocktails and mocktails named “pink monster” that may contain alcohol- it would depend on the bartender making the drink! But, in general, if you buy a can of pink Monster Ultra Rosa, there will be no alcohol.

How much caffeine is in monster pink drink?

Monster Ultra Pink has about 140 mg of caffeine in one can. It is definitely considered a caffeinated energy drink.

Is the pink monster sugar free?

Yes, pink Monster energy drink is sugar free and also has zero calories. It is sweetened with erythritol and sucralose. Our homemade version has real fruit juices which do make it sweet. The rose syrup is also sweet and made with sugar. However, you can use sugar free juice and syrups to make your own sugar free drink.

How many monsters can you drink a day?

Too much caffeine can cause headaches or insomnia. Excessive energy drinks can also lead to long term health issues. It is best to only enjoy one or two Monster drinks a day. They are definitely best in moderation!

I had never tried making an energy drink at home until this one and it was delicious! Not sure why I would ever buy them again. At least in this one I know exactly what the ingredients are.

Such a refreshing drink! My fave part was the green bean coffee extract, it gave it a unique bitterness and flavor

So much better than store bought, I loved how fruity it was. No more Pink Monster in a can for me - it’s homemade all the way!
