The moscow mule is the perfect cocktail to remake and transform, making it even more delicious and enjoyable since it has no alcohol. Let us tell you all about this delicious drink!
The Moscow mule was born in Manhattan in the 1940’s. A bartender orders too much ginger beer and needed to use up the excess stock. He mixed a little vodka with the ginger beer and the Moscow mule was born.
However, the drink was reinvented in the 21st century and came back with a bang. Copper mugs full of moscow mule inspired drinks are still seen on bar menus across the country.
Traditionally, the Moscow mule is made with vodka, ginger beer and lime juice. The ingredients are simply mixed together and poured into a copper mug (we will talk more about the mug later!).
Of course, we wanted to make our own, non alcoholic version that was even more delicious. We said goodbye to the vodka and hello to a touch of mint. Our moscow mule mocktail is so refreshing, zesty and amazing that you are going to crave this drink all day long!
We want to make sure you create the perfect moscow mule mocktail. Take a look at the ingredients you need and then get ready to start mixing!
- Ginger Beer- Ginger beer is a sweetened, non alcoholic drink made with ginger, yeast and sugar. It is zesty, a little spicy and very refreshing.
- Lime Juice- Lime juice adds a bright, vibrant flavor to the drink.
- Sparkling Water- Sparkling water adds some extra bubbles and lightens the strong taste of the gingerbeer.
- Simple Syrup- Simple syrup sweetens the drink, making it almost dessert like
- Mint Leaves- Fresh mint pairs well with the spice of the ginger beer and the bright lime juice. It makes the moscow mule mocktail taste very summery and fresh
- Lime Wedge- A lime wedge garnish is easy and pretty!
Most of these ingredients can be found in any local grocery store. There are all different kinds of ginger beer so pick one that looks delicious to you. We like lighter ginger beer options that are more refreshing. Choose a darker ginger beer if you want something hearty and rich.
To make a moscow mule mocktail all you need to do is add the mint leaves and simple syrup to a glass and muddle them together. Fill the glasses with crushed ice then add all the remaining ingredients. That’s it! Muddling and mixing are the only tricks to a perfect non alcoholic moscow mule.
