Royal milk tea is quite popular in Japan. In fact, it has been around for hundreds of years. The tea is pretty simple to make and easy enough to enjoy every day. Maybe this Japanese tea will be a new part of your morning routine.

Japanese milk tea is essentially black tea leaves steeped into whole milk. Assam or darajeeling tea leaves are usually used but you can really choose any kind of black tea you’d like.

Using a chai blend will give your Japanese milk tea a delicious spice while using all assam leaves will keep it classic.

Whole milk is also the traditionally used milk for this recipe. Of course, you can feel free to mix it up and try almond milk, oat milk or even hemp seed milk to make your tea. Each milk will give the tea a different flavor but each will be great!

Once your tea leaves have steeped and you have melted a little sugar into the mix, pour the tea into delicate Japanese tea cups and enjoy.

The caffeine in the black tea is enough to wake you up in the morning or it will give you a little pick-me-up at night. No matter when you drink your Japanese milk tea, you’re going to love it!
