    Green Smoothies Recipes

We love healthy, tasty smoothies. A good sign that a smoothie is loaded with health benefits is its color. There is nothing better than a bright green smoothie! You can look at it and instantly know that it is healthy!

    Tropical Greens Smoothie

We have created a lot of great, green smoothie recipes. Each one is unique and delicious but all of them are pretty healthy. We get that green color from only healthy sources!

Here are a few of our favorite green smoothies. We know that there is at least one (or two or three) on here that you will love!

    Are Smoothies Healthy?

This is one of the biggest questions out there. The answer will really depend on the type of smoothie you are making. However, in general, smoothies are healthy.

Most smoothies are made with lots of fruits. Fruits have natural vitamins and minerals. They are also naturally sweet which means you don’t always need extra sugar or sweetener to make a smoothie.

Many smoothies, especially green smoothies, are made with vegetables in addition to fruit. Spinach, kale, and even broccoli are often found in green smoothies. Green veggies have lots of fiber, vitamins and minerals. These health benefits are especially strong when the veggies are blended, un cooked, into a smoothie.

Most smoothies are made with milk or yogurt. Adding dairy to a smoothie can help improve bone strength and give you some extra calcium in your diet. If a smoothie doesn’t have dairy, it likely has almond milk, oat milk or another type of high protein milk. Even if a smoothie is just made with water, it is still hydrating!

One thing to check for in a smoothie recipe is added sugar. Too much sugar is how most smoothies end up being not very healthy. Keep the extra sugar to a minimum, choosing fruits that are super ripe to add natural sweetness, and you are sure to end up with a healthy drink!

    Why are Smoothies Green?

There are quite a few different ingredients that can make a smoothie green. Here are a few of our favorite green ingredients to add to a smoothie:

    • Kale
    • Spinach
    • Broccoli
    • Matcha Tea Powder
    • Kiwi
    • Swiss chard
    • Romaine
    • Arugula
    • Avocado
    • Green Pears (more about types of pears and the best tips about pears)
    • Green Apples
    • Pea Powder

Now, we aren’t recommending adding all of these ingredients to a blender and pureeing them up. That would be one potent green smoothie! Adding other non-green ingredients is important to help make the smoothie taste good.

No one wants to drink pure pureed broccoli with a straw. But a broccoli smoothie made with banana, honey and apple juice sounds pretty great!

    Best Green Smoothie Recipes Ever

Take a look at our favorite green smoothie recipes. We have quite a few! Each one is a little different so be sure to try them all. Then, of course, let us know which one is your favorite.

    1. Tropical Greens Smoothie

Our tropical greens smoothie is super green and super delicious. It has a medley of tropical fruits like banana, pineapple and mango. These sweet fruits blend so well together and make a smoothie that is packed with flavor.

The smoothie is made green with kale which is packed with vitamins and minerals. Kale has a subtle flavor that is slightly earthy and fibrous. However, the bitter taste of kale is completely masked by all the tasty fruit in this recipe.

We also add some Greek yogurt to make the smoothie thick and a little tangy. Then we drizzle in a little honey to make it perfectly sweet. The result is the greenest, tastiest smoothie out there. It may just be our favorite.

    1. Green Power Honeydew Smoothie

Adding leafy greens to a smoothie is an easy way to turn any drink green. However, you may not always want all that spinach or kale in your smoothie. You may want something that is a little lighter and fruitier.

This green power honeydew smoothie is a nice pale green color thanks to all the delicious honeydew, mint, cucumber and lime juice that goes into the blender. These pale green ingredients mix together to make a delicious, easy to drink smoothie that you will adore. No heavy green leafy veggies in this green smoothie! Just natural, subtly green fruits.

    1. Green Power Detox Drink

This detox juice is made by pressing different green fruits and veggies through a juicer. The result is a very smooth, very green drink that will give you an instant boost of nutrition.

Rather than use a juicer to press the juice, you can also add all of the ingredients to a blender along with one cup of ice to create a smoothie. The details for turning the juice into a smoothie are all in the recipe notes!

Be sure to read all about the incredible health benefits of this detox green juice. Once you see how amazing it is, you are definitely going to want to make it every day.

    1. Rooftop Illusion Mocktail

This recipe is more like a mocktail than a smoothie but we wanted to include it on our list of green smoothie recipes because it is just so good. The pale green drink is made with honeydew melon, orange juice, pineapple juice, and lemon. It has a bold and bright flavor that will wake you up in the morning or help you relax in the afternoon.

The mocktail is typically made with the juice mix poured over ice but the recipe has details about how to turn it into a smoothie. All you really need to do is blend the ice into the juice!

    1. Pineapple Matcha Smoothie

Matcha is a type of very healthy green tea. Match has lots of antioxidants that may help improve heart health, decrease the risk of diabetes and even improve your mood. It is also a brilliant green color that makes this smoothie incredible!

Matcha powder, pineapple juice, ginger, honey and coconut milk are blended together to create a fruity, slightly spicy green tea smoothie. It is a great morning smoothie to give you energy to power through the day. Those mood improving components in the matcha and the yummy flavor of the drink are sure to put a smile on your face!

Green smoothies may just be our favorite smoothies. Green drinks are so fun, flavorful and healthy. There are also so many ways to create a green smoothie that you will never grow tired of green drinks. Try them all and let us know which is your favorite!
